Delete your account

Last updated:

This page is about the Naipa app (co.ottojimb.naipa) on Android and on iPhone. You can delete your account, and everything attached to it, whenever you like and without asking anyone: it takes two taps inside the app, and it happens immediately.

If you cannot get into the app — you lost the phone, you forgot the password, you already uninstalled it — you can ask us to do it for you by email, from the address on your account.

1. From the app, in two taps

Open Naipa signed in to your account and:

  • Go to the Settings tab and scroll to the bottom.
  • Tap Delete my account.
  • Confirm with Yes, delete everything.

That is the whole thing. The account and everything hanging off it is erased on the server right then, the copy kept on the phone is wiped, the daily reminder is cancelled, and the app goes back to the login screen. It cannot be undone, and we cannot get any of it back for you.

2. By email, if you cannot get in

Write to the address at the end of this page from the email address on your account and tell us to delete it. One line is enough; you do not have to explain why.

We may write back to check it is really you before erasing anything — with an email request that is the only protection there is. Once we know, we delete it as soon as we can, and within 30 days at the latest.

3. What gets deleted

All of it. Nothing is anonymised and nothing is set aside:

  • Your account: your name, your email address, your password hash and your link to Google if you used it. The email address goes back to being free to register with.
  • What you wrote: the text of every answer, the card each one belongs to and the days you played them.
  • Your weekly summaries: the themes that were counted and the notes written about them.
  • Your settings, and every session open on this phone or any other.
  • The record of your subscription on our side, if you had one. The purchase itself lives with the store, not with us.

4. What outlives it for a while

Two things do not vanish at the same instant, and neither one is anything you wrote: our short-lived access logs (IP address, time, route), kept briefly to keep the service running and defend it from abuse, and the database backups, where a copy may sit for a few weeks until it rolls over on its own.

Whatever the store holds is the store's. If you paid for a subscription, the record of that purchase lives in your Google Play or Apple account under their terms, not ours.

5. Cancel the subscription first

Deleting your Naipa account does not cancel the subscription: only the store that sold it can do that, and it keeps renewing until you tell it to stop. Cancel it before you delete the account — on Android from your Google Play account, under Payments and subscriptions; on iPhone from Settings, under your name and then Subscriptions.

6. Ask us to delete it

Write from the email address on your account, saying you want it deleted, and we take care of the rest:
